November 17th 2023:
Last night WCNS was invited to MEC Halifax to give a talk on Winter Camping in Nova Scotia. There was a great turn out of people and we covered topics such as Basic Principles, How to pack a bag/ important gear, and Safety tips. It was our first community out reach event and we are so excited to participate in more.
Below are a few photos from the event

"When walking up new to a group campfire already well established with everyone knowing each other, it can go one of two ways. It could be awkward AF, where I just mosey on up and insert myself in somewhere and just stand there feeling uncomfortable because no one acknowledges me even being there, or, I could walk up to it, Brittany notices right away, and with a big smile says Hey Kerianne, let me introduce you to everyone! It’s no wonder she’s an amazing leader and founder of this group, because she does an exceptional job of making everyone feel welcome and included! I’m so glad my first experience included the latter of the two situations i mentioned above! Not to mention her coming around to see how you’re doing setting up when you first get there. And then of course there’s all the rest of you awesome folks! I met Lloyd and Darren early on and was very thankful for their tips they gave me with my tent/tarps. Tanya and Kristy and Carolyn were all so great and I really enjoyed conversing with them. And I super loved how Danielle took me to show me her set up, she also made me feel so included and welcome. I can’t say enough about this group!!! Mercury and her husband were so sweet. Robert’s hot tent was the coolest thing I ever saw and is something I now want to work towards getting. And Patrick! Omg I’ve been taking about him non stop since I got home. He is the most thoughtful and generous person I think I’ve ever met in my life. So so sweet! I’m sure I’m forgetting some people, but long story short I had the best time away and I can’t wait for many many MANY more adventures with you all " -Kerrianne
